The Veste Coburg (also Frankish crown called) towers above the city Coburg in the Bavarian border area to Thuringia. Under duke Carl Eduard is restored 1908-1924 the Veste, whereby the historisierenden added 19. Century to be eliminated.
To 10. and 11 April 1945 the Veste is fired at by the Americans, whereby heavy building damage develops. In the 50's the building of duchesses is simplified restored. 1969 are completed the change of the building of Carl Eduards and furnished to this as museum. 1970-1972 are prepared the high house for the admission of the management, the administration, the library and the museum workshops, reconditioned and developed 1981-1985 the stone Kemenate. In the ground floor powerful, unknown foundations are excavated. At the outside barrier ditches comprehensive repair works are accomplished, which are locked 1987.
