Salou is distant 10 km a coastal town in the province Tarragona (Katalonien/Spain), for about from the province capital Tarragona. It has 20,139 inhabitants (2005).

The economy of the city is based mainly on the tourism. In the proximity is the topic park haven Aventura.

The city has four larger beaches. The Playa de Levante (Llevant), is the largest with a length of 1,2 km. Besides there are some smaller bath bays.
