It is on the summit of the woman mountain on the Gemarkung of the city Abensberg, belongs however to the Pfarrei in the neighbouring Biburg. At the foot of the mountain the federal highway 16 from Regensburg runs to Ingolstadt.

Establishment legend

After the legend was (for instance at the beginning of the 11. Century) the marriage of a son of the count Babo von Abensberg childless for many years remained. The countess praised there to donate to the God nut/mother Maria a church. From a window of the Abensberger of lock out it shot an arrow; , where this met the soil, the building should be established. Thus it happened; the countess however bore seven children in the following years still altogether.

History

Already in the Middle Ages was the church on the woman Mrs. a much visited place of pilgrimage, belonging to the Benediktinerkloster Biburg. In the year 1589 transferred the Jesuiten of the Kolleg to Ingolstadt the monastery including the Allersdorfer pilgrimage church approximately around the year 1600 the church by a new building with two side chapels one replaced; only from that the 13. Century coming tower was maintained. In the future the Marienwallfahrt already took a renewed upswing, and in the middle 17. Century became necessary the first extension of the church. In the time between 1710 and 1716 the last large structural alteration measures took place. Among other things the Roman tower was provided with a new upper section and received a hood. The majority of the today still existing interior decoration of the church room created in this period and also the 10 cross way chapels (see below) to originate from this time.

Today the church does not possess no more as place of pilgrimage the great importance, which had it in earlier centuries. Occasionally however still Wallfahrten take place, so e.g. annually in the Marienmonat May the asking course of the Pfarrei Abensberg. Also for weddings the church is still gladly used.

Interior equipment

The pilgrimage church all village possesses very rich interior equipment in styles of the late baroque and/or Rococo. However the actual grace picture, a wood figure the nut/mother God with the Jesuskind, from early 16 comes. Century, is thus older than the today's building of churches.

The high altar was set up 1757. Beside further figure decoration the church orders over numerous Fresken at cover and walls as well as rich stucco ornaments, among them colored painted Akanthusranken.

During the last church restoration (1992-1995) from the 40's the 19 became. Century coming organ developed. The official reason for this was that it blocks the view of painting to that the rear wall of the loft. It is located today in the organ museum Kelheim; the church in all village has now only an electronic organ.

Cross way chapels and other auxiliary buildings

Directly with the church are a ummauerter cemetery as well as a priest house with hipped roof. On half height of the mountain stand altogether 10 cross way chapels, which originate from the time around 1711. From reasons of the risk of theft the figures contained in it became however in 20. Century far away and by up-painted pictures replaces.
