This was a catholic branch church of the Benediktinerklosters in and is considered as the oldest parish church north the alps.

The commencement of construction of the church is to be led back into the year 995 under abbott Werinbert, the consecration by Cologne archbishop anno II. took place 1063. It was originally a simple hall construction, which received around 1100 lower side ships, which were separated by a rheinischen support change from the main ship. By the secularization 1803 the building was used starting from 1811 as grain camp and later than dwelling, until one developed the church starting from 1957 again and in the year 1965 inaugurated again.

Today child and school services in it are held predominantly.
