The catholic branch church pc. George is the former village church of elbow living and to 1934 of their religious center. Today it is particularly well-known for their cemetery, on which many prominent ones found their last peace.

Situation

Pc. George (Bogenhausener church square 1) is because of the Isarhochufer in the north of the former village center. Today west the Montgelasstrasse is calm and idyllisch their situation.

History

Over the origin of the church little is well-known. The tower basement, which comes from the lateRoman building of predecessors, is the oldest certification of a church in elbow living. Probably in the first half 15. Century the old choir was replaced by a lategothical new building, which exisitiert until today.

1759 initierten the Bogenhausener at that time minister Franz George Riedl and count August Joseph of which possessed close of the church the renewal of the church ship and won Johann Michael Fischer as architects. The development to the Rococo church began 1766. The construction work was completed 1768. 1777 received the tower its doubly constricted bulb, in the same year the equipment of the church were completed.

By the inauguration of the parish church holy 1934 pc. George its status lost blood as parish church and is since then branch of holy blood.

In the Second World War almost intact, the church was carried back in up to the year 2000 a lasting overall renovation again to the original color design of Fischer.

Pc. George is nut/mother church for the whole area on the right of the Isar between the Menterschwaige, and hair.

• Pater Alfred Delp SJ was in the 1930er years a church rector in pc. George. In the parsonage building of pc. George it came to meetings of the Kreisauer of circle. Also Delp was arrested after a morning fair in pc. George on 28 July 1944.
