The bill Maximilian was a Steinkohlen-Bergwerk in Hamm, today is on the former bill area the sport and recreation park "Maximilianpark".
The history of the bill Maximilian begins to the turn of the century 1899/1900, when the iron work company AG" acquires a pit field from Sulzbach Rosenberg in Hamm Werries. The society begins in the year 1902 with the Abteufen of two pits. The shaft construction is obstructed by repeated water break-downs by sources of brine strongly, the society encounters however with pit 1 into 634 meters depth seam-prominent layers and promotes on 21 February 1907 the first coal from the new bill.
However still further five years up to the systematic coal dismantling offense, since the development of the coal fields is obstructed again and again by water break-downs and by gas outbreaks. Already in the second year of the massive the staff of the bill consists of scarcely 1,200 miners, who promote 1913 somewhat more than 100,000 tons of coal in this year. For the mountain workers as housing development the "colony Maximilian" was established, to the evacuation of the coal serves a new railway route, in the year 1914 on the bill area for the first time coke is produced.
In August 1914 the bill however already stops its promotion. Already in February water from the Deckgebirge penetrates into the pit, which is salty and char acid and to a rapid wear under-meets assigned machines leads. In addition the supply of spare parts for the assigned pumps retards by the partial blockage of the rail goods traffic due to the First World War, so that the bill reaches i.e. the water the first sole and finally even over-meets runs out. The systematic coal dismantling on the bill Maximilian took altogether thus less than two years.
In the years 1921 and 1940 again attempts are undertaken to revive the promotion on the bill Maximilian but 1943 from for the bill admits given. In the year 1945 the area serves the pit, which however one did not carry out for short time as camp for east workers and former Russian prisoner of war after the Second World War gave it again a last plan for the dewatering, so that the pits were finally filled between 1978 and 1980 finally.
On 1 October 1981 the first cut of the spade for the first national horticultural show of North Rhine-Westphalia on the bill area, which took place here from 14 April to 30 September 1984, takes place.
From the establishment time still existing administration buildings, which are machinery building and the electrical center in historisierender brickwork today in the Maximilianpark integrated.
