The Luisenburg Felsenlabyrinth is a block sea from granite blocks with extents of several meters and part of the protected area large labyrinth with Wunsiedel. For its emergence long time became catastrophic events like e.g. Earthquake accepted. Today one knows that rather the procedures of decomposition and erosion, persisting during geological periods, are responsible for the formation of the rock labyrinth.

Goethe recognized this, when he wrote 1820:

"“The tremendous size of that, without trace of order and direction, over each other fallen granite masses gives a sight, to its resembling me on all migrations never again occurred, and it is not anybody too bad that, in order to explain these, astonishment, fright and Graun of exciting chaotic conditions, tides and cloud breaks, storm and earthquake, volcanos, and which only otherwise nature by force excite may, here too would help calls. On closer inspection however, and with thorough knowledge its which nature, calmly and slowly working, also probably extraordinary is able, darbot myself us a dissolution of this mystery (...)"”

The well rounded forms of the individual blocks resulted from Wollsack decomposition in the tropical, humid climate of the Tertiary period. Erosion-caused they were prepared in the course of the time, in their situation unstably and began themselves to shift. From it the wild-romantic ways resulted from close columns and steep stairs.
