Lock white stone became between 1711 and 1718 under Lothar Franz of beautiful fount (1655-1729), for which Bamberger builds prince bishop and cure prince of Mainz in Pommersfelden with Bamberg as building of establishments of the Frankish baroque.

The lock served cure prince Lothar Franz of beautiful fount as private summer residence and is until today in private property. It can be visited by at the beginning of of April to at the end of of Octobers. In July and August there young musicians meet and give each yearly in the context of the Collegium Musicum to make music over together in the marble hall of concerts. Since 2005 the lock park place of event for the sales exhibition is "„fascination garden "“.

Architect

Priority building master was Johann Dientzenhofer, whereby e.g. also for the Viennese master of building of yards Johann Lukas of Hildebrandt at least is to be proven planerische at the building. The unusual Marstall was established by Maximilian of Welsch.

History

The owner, Lothar Franz of beautiful fount, was a nephew Johann Philipps. With 34 years he became a president of the Bamberger yard chamber, four years after prince bishop von Bamberg and forty-year old archbishop and cure prince of Mainz. Friedrich Carl recommended to it the architect Lukas of Hildebrandt. This was allowed to prepare and correct the draft, encountered however violent resistance, when its proposed amendments threatened to endanger the total conception. Lothar Franz wrote his nephew in February 1713 in Vienna:

"“Rose my muess remain, as which of my Invention undt my masterpiece is."”

Probably it lies to the separatingness of the lock that it is to a large extent undisturbed received. Only as in the seven-year-old war the troops of the prince Heinrich of Prussia the environment of Bamberg afflicted, the lock one and substantially one damaged.

Name

Architecture

Is particularly worth seeing the stairway with its Deckenfresko of Johann Rudolph Byss and Giovanni Francesco Marchini. The Pommersfeldener stairway served thereby the stairway of Balthasar Neumann in the residence as direct model. The garden hall of the house, which is Sala Terrena, as a Muschelgrotte out-arranged complex and may be considered as one of the few received examples of Grottenarchitektur in Germany.

To the areas, on which Lothar Franz was particularly proud, the Sala belonged terrena, whose of Johann Dientzenhofer with a building of everyday was used for the first time. This low garden hall must carry the solidium of the marble hall lying over it and has therefore enormously thick walls, which let the area appear dark like a cave. Thus the thought probably came to arrange the area as Grotte.
