The lock maple is a lock in maple (with Coburg).

History

Already toward end of the 11. Century in deeds of donation a "“castle Ahorny"” was mentioned.

It was a component of the hereditary property of the Poland queen Richeza, the daughter of the Pfalzgrafen Ehrenfried of Lorraine and its wife Mathilde, the daughter of Otto II. Richeza bequeathed II. of Cologne, who equipped the Benediktiner monastery hall field created by him with him in the year 1071 when its dying their possession around Coburg, which she had inherited as marriage property of her nut/mother, to the archbishop anno. To this donation belonged the mountain Coburg, the villages filling brook, Creidlitz, Ketschendorf, Trufelistadt, the former imperial yards being man village, loud and me village as well as the forest with the castle maple.

Lock maple in its current shape was established by Joachim of Rosenau after the farmer war in the year 1555 on the remainders of the older castle plant. Its final today's appearance received the lock by the Mr. von Streitberg in the year 1621. In the course of the centuries the lock had changing owners: of foam mountain, of Ermreuth, of Hendrich, of tree brook and finally of Erffa, which inhabit the lock this very day.

Structural ensemble

The lock appears in the Renaissance style with round at the front lock. In the small inner court is an octagonal stair tower with a spiral stair, whose stages are fastened to a column not as usual, but gehauenen at one in stone spindle. This construction often became as 9. World miracle designates. The lock is in private property and cannot not be visited.

On the left a property yard with farm buildings from that is directly following to the lock to 18. /19. Century. To it also some scarce kilometer distant a baroque plant belongs from the year 1713, in which today the equipment museum of the Coburger of country is accommodated.

Right beside the lock is the pretty castle church, which developed from a gothical castle chapel. On the inside are two splendourful Epitaphien of the Mr. von Streitberg.
