Lock Craheim is one of the youngest locks in Bavaria and lies when sharpening living in Lower Franconia, district pig ford and market municipality Stadtlauringen
The lock was built very late for such a building; the construction period was from 1908 to 1910. Cause for the building was the marriage between the royally Prussian ride master Crafft baron Truchsess of and to sharpening house and Clara Erhart, a German-American daughterdaughter daughter. The rich American was too cold and too unfashionable the old lock in the village sharpening living. Since it brought the necessary money also into the marriage, by the married couple the new building of a lock about a kilometer was decided outside of the locality. Originally an exact reproduction was planned by lock Solitude, however this project was rejected by the king at that time William II. The new building leans therefore only in its southern main front against Solitude, however to a four-wing plant was formally extended.
The building in the temporal overview
Since the Building Department did not want to decrease the building without second stairway, in the southeast corner of the inner court a stairway was later cultivated to the south wing. The Bavarian building code was particularly strictly considered on fire safety around 1900.
The total costs amounted to 1.534.813, - Goldmark. The name lock Craheim was formed from the first names of the designers Crafft and Clara.
For some years the lock stands under monument protection.
While the lock was used as school, a multi-family house for teachers became and two workshops for the vocational training of the pupils, on the area of the lock establishes. One of the workshops was converted and is used now as guesthouse, torn off the other one about 1999.
In the last years on the area around the lock due to the current use still further buildings were established approximately, which do not impair however the original built volumes.

The lock (front and park) is ajar from the outside in addition, against the style of the baroque and Rococo, shows klassizistische elements. Inside are as far as possible still all in the original received to area (apart from furniture). However all area particularly were never developed.

Here in the year 1968 the life center for the unit of the Christians lock Craheim was created by Christians of different konfessioneller origin and religious coinage. This establishment goes back on common experiences, which those men and women, theologians and laymen, with meetings, in particular with the church conferences in into which years after 1965 had.
