John Murray is a publishing house in London, which 1768 were created. In particular became the publishing house admits by the travel manuals (Handbooks for travellers), which it published 1836 to 1901.

Because of the color of their cover the Murray manuals received "“talk Books"” to the surnames and became a kind Bible for travelers. First talk Book about 1836 registered the objects of interest of Holland, Belgium and the Rhine country and recommended to the tourist the pittoreskesten and most romantic routes. The objects of interest were evaluated here with a star system, which had invented John Murray.

The concept of the worth seeing one was actually coined/shaped by Murray, for which thereby together with the German Karl Baedeker as "“one of the prophets of the tourism"” (H.M.Enzensberger) can apply.
