Inland tourism is the name for a travel behavior, which is limited to the own country.

The reasons for inland tourism are frequently various nature. In Germany mainly two reasons apply:

  • Financial causes, like sinking incomes of the population, whom make it impossible to aim at far distant vacation goals in connection with rising travel prices.
  • Marketing-Massnahmen of the municipalities, which steer the"” holiday-maker stream "“in their direction.

Within Germany the inland tourism reached, decreased/went back its high point in the years after the reunification in the course of the recession however. Popular goals are:

  • North and Baltic Sea coast
  • Mecklenburgian sea-plate
  • heath
  • Black Forest
  • Bavarian forest
  • Alpine foreland and the
  • The metropolises Berlin, Hamburg and Munich
