The Ilmtal cycle path is 124 km long cycle path along the Ilm, which leads with small and middle difficulty of to allnear above the Ilmquelle until Kaatschen Weichau, where the Ilm flows into the Saale and where to the Saale cycle track exists connection.

Distance

The cycle path leads predominantly across fastened ways off the main streets. Only on few kilometers it follows a relatively traffic-poor highway. The cycle path is suitable also for families with children, is however because of occasional rises (also in direction) none enter-extends. On very short sections pushing can be necessary. Most sections are weather-independently passable, as far as it is frost-protected.

• Section 1 (length: 22 km) of to allnear after long meadows over support hereditaryoh, one brook, Ilmenau. Tipps: Museums in Ilmenau (Goethe memorial places), looking mine full rose with long meadows (excursion 2 km), open-rir swimming pools in support hereditaryoh and Ilmenau.

• Section 2 (length 22 km) from long meadows to Kleinhettstedt over Annawerk, Drnfeld Ilmwerk, Cottendorf (optional: Sing (Ilmtal)), Griesheim, Stadtilm and Grosshettstedt. Tipps: Museum brewery in singing (excursion 2 km), museum and open-rir swimming pool in Stadtilm, art and mustard mill in Kleinhettstedt (absolutely try the mustard).

• Section 3 (length 22 km) from Kleinhettstedt to bath Berka over service EDT, Barchfeld (Ilm), Stedten to the Ilm, Kranichfeld, Tannroda and Munich (Ilm). Tipps: service EDT (after registration), Stedtener mill (fresh fish starting from yard, planned: Looking aquarium), museums in Kranichfeld (tree brook house, upper lock/excursion 1 km) and Hohenfelden (farmhouses/excursion 3 km), lock Tannroda (Korbmachermuseum, observation tower), Goethe well bath Berka (welfare water), open-rir swimming pools in Hohenfelden (artificial lake/excursion 2 km) and bath Berka.

• 4a (length 16 km) of bath after Berka Weimar over Hetschburg, Buchfart, Oettern, cut off Mellingen, deaf oh and upperWeimar. Tipps: Mill and historical toll bridge Buchfart, Feininger route starting from Mellingen (different excursions 2 to 8 km), bee museum upperWeimar, park and museums in Weimar (classical author memorial places Goethe, Friedrich von Schiller, Herder, Wieland, Cranach, Bach), open-rir swimming pool in Weimar.

• Cut off 4b (length 18 km) from Weimar to Oberrossla (to Apolda over Tiefurt, Kromsdorf and Ossmannstedt. Tipps: Lock and park Tiefurt, lock Kromsdorf, how/as land property Ossmannstedt, museums in Apolda (bell museum, art gallery/excursion 1 km), open-rir swimming pools in Ossmannstedt and Apolda (excursion 2 km).

• Section 5 (length 24 km) of Oberrossla (to Apolda) after Kaatschen Weichau over Niederrossla, Mattstedt, Wickerstedt, Eberstedt, Darnstedt, bath Sulza and Grossheringen.Tipps: Pasture rod palace and battleground Auerstedt (excursion 2 km), open-rir swimming pool, hot spring, saltworks and Kurpark in bath Sulza, native wine directly starting from winegrower in sun yard (2 km excursions) and Kaat.
