The Gepatschhaus is a alpine association hut of the section Frankfurt of the German alpine association. The protection house of the 2. Category is in the rear Kaunertal in the alps. Nearby the hut the Kaunertaler glacier route leads past since 1980.

Historical

The Gepatschhaus is one of the oldest alpine association huts in Austria and 1873 was built, 1892/1892, 1911/1912 and 1957/1958 extended and 2005 reconditioned. Directly beside the Gepatschhaus is the chapel "“Maria Schnee"”, who was inaugurated 1895.

Journey

• Journey by course: to landhit a corner.
• Journey by bus: Bus stops: in the Kaunertal.

Ascent

• Of the bus stop Gepatschhaus in 2 minutes.
• With the passenger car up to the house.

Routes

From the Gepatschhaus the following summit routes are possible:

• Ox head (2,944 m), 3 hr.
• Rear oil pit point (3,296 m), 4 - 4 hr.
• Front oil pit point (3,456 m), 5 hr.
• White sea-point (3,526 m), 6 hr.
• Glockturm (3,355 m), 5 hr.

By use of the Buslinie into the summer skiing area ascents on the white sea-point and the Glockturm on 2 and/or 3 hours shorten.

Apart from these routes the following transitions are possible to other protection houses:

• Over the Aachener elevator way to the Anton set right hut, 8 hr.
• Over the oil pit yoke (3,050 m) to the Taschachhaus, 5 hr.
• On the Gepatschferner to the rough head hut in 3 hr. and from there far to the Brandenburger houses, altogether 5 - 6 hr.
• Over the Gepatschjoch (3,241 m) to the gnawing hut, 5 hr.
• Over the Riffljoch (3,210 m) to the Hohenzollernhaus, 8 hr.

With all transitions with exception of the Aachener of elevator way a glacier committing is necessary. In the Fernergries in the proximity of the house is in addition a climbing garden.
