History

The city residence land hat is considered as the first Renaissance palace north the alps. It was built under duke Ludwig X. in the years 1536 to 1543. First regional building masters established the "“German building in such a way specified"” in the Italian style. Later duke Ludwig Xth engaged bricklayer master from Italy, who extended the residence with the "“Italian in such a way specified building"” - a typically Italian Renaissance Palazzo -. The splendor areas of the city residence with rich stucco works and Freskomalereien are today a tourist attraction of the city.
