The term cellar lane is predominantly used in Austria. Hereby the lane, at which the cellar plants are, particularly trained in viticulture regions as Hohlweg, is designated.

Smaller ones, centuries old cellar plants were usually driven in the areas of cultivation of wine frequently outside of the place into the mountain. Often the plants closely lying side by side have usually a press house scarcely which is under Erdnivau. This is connected by a cellar neck with that far in the back-lying actual camp cellar.

In areas with prevailing loess the cellar lanes are usually designed as steilwandige Hohlwege. To the lane only the wine cellar courses are visible.

In the cellar lanes are frequently also smaller wine tubes and pensions. The wine celebrations in the cellar lanes are well-known also over the borders of Austria outside.

Germany

Also in Germany there are e.g. similar viticulture cellar plants, as the cellar way in Guntersblum.
