The ruin of the castle new edge mountain is above the locality of the same name. The place new edge mountain is a local part of the municipality rat mountain in the district Straubing elbow, governmental district Lower Bavaria.

From the medieval plant today still remainders of the surrounding wall of the core castle as well as remainder of a kennel wall with half shell towers are present.

Underneath the castle - in the proximity of the location of the former castle chapel - 1698 a pilgrimage church were established. In the pilgrimage church a Marienfigur is from the time around 1460.

History

The gentlemen of RAM PCB suppl. (Ramsperger) appear starting from center 12. Century as Ministeriale of the counts von Bogen and also the high pin Passau. Around the year 1330 a Friedrich Ramsperger builds the castle new edge mountain only little south of the master castle of the family old edge mountain.

In the first half 15. Century seem to be guessed/advised the Mr. von Rampsberg with the law in conflict, because after 1436 Haimeran Heuraus conquers the castle on behalf of duke Albrecht III. (1438-1460).

In the future different families are in the possession of the castle, like that around 1550 the barons von Nothafft. After them the castle becomes Bavarian office for maintaining and serves later than prison.

In the war the castle is destroyed 1633 by Swedish troops under Colonel von Taupaddell. A reconstruction was omitted.
