The castle lies highly over the Wiesenttal in in Bavaria. The castle was designated after its designer Goswin.

The plant lain highly over the city possibly served Richard Wagner as model for the Gralsburg in its Parsifal.

History

  • 1076: First documentary mention
  • 1525: Destruction in the farmer war and following reconstruction
  • 1553: Destruction in the second Mark count war and following reconstruction
  • 1803: The castle arrives in Bavarian government property.
  • 1875: Acquisition of the castle by Edgar baron von Sohlern
  • 1890: Transformation in the again-gothical style
