Castle flint is on so-called being enough mile with Ebermannstadt in the district Forchheim. It was built for 1941 of professor Oskar Vierling as laboratory for research in high-frequency engineering and electroacoustics and used until 1945 of 250 employees for the research at weapon and communicationses.
To the end of war seized by American soldiers, the castle was leased 1946 by the ore diocese Bamberg under the direction of Jupp cutter and acquired 1949. Since then the castle and the entire area serve as catholic youth and meeting place.
Professor Vierling was on the search for a location for its laboratories, lain central. The choice fell on a mountain with the Flurnamen "flint". The design of a castle corresponded to the picture of Frankish Switzerland and also for camouflage reasons was selected. During the war it was as camouflaged (red cross from bricks at the roof), after end of war it immediately was left, old structural drawings and documents destroyed. A Relikt from the construction period is the today's wine cellar, in former times an accessible Safe with 10 cm of strong steel door. The attraction of the castle proceeds not from a medieval origin, but from the building history of wartime and its recent age.
The castle was constantly extended by sleep space cultivations, Speisesaal, leisure-time facilities (skittle-alley, table tennis, Volleyball, hard place, sports field), conference areas, campgrounds, agriculture, riding stable, sail airfield and other one. 1961 were inaugurated the church "clarifying Christi". It consists of three church rooms, the crypt, the Unterkirche and the upper church. Today castle presents itself flint as modern youth club in the heart of the Bamberg.
