The bill Caroline is a former hard coal mine in Holzwickede.

The first pit of the bill Caroline was dug, after the was made first by a hereditary lug, 1855 as prospecting shaft. The promotion on bill Caroline began with two further pits 1856.

930 persons employed obtained the highest promotion in the year 1929 with 286.486 tons.

The quiet putting of the bill took place to 31. May 1951. Nearly 500 miners were affected and lost either their job or to other pits of the environment were shifted by the quiet putting. Representatively of other miners, who lost their life under or over days by the dangerous work, than last victim of the bill the miner Friedrich Menncken is mentioned. It had an accident still after official deactivation on 31 October 1951 deadly.

Today Caroline is among other things the historical mining industry moving way Holzwickede, as part of the route of the industrial culture in the area of the bill.
