The Berufsgenossenschaftlichen hospitals miner welfare is a clinical center of the Ruhr University Bochum.

Grossteilig is financed this building, as well as the whole clinical center by its carrier, the Bergbau-Berufsgenossenschaft, that is the legal accident insurance of all German mining industry entrepreneurs.
Apart from the mechanisms and institutions for the direct treatment of the patients and the administration three research institutes are attached to the hospital. It concerns the Berufsgenossenschaftliche Forschungsinstitut for industrial medicine (BGFA), Institut of the Ruhr University Bochum, Institut for dangerous material research (IGF), Institut of the Bergbau-Berufsgenossenschaft at the Ruhr University Bochum, and Institut for pathology of the Ruhr University Bochum at the Berufsgenossenschaftlichen hospitals miner welfare.
