The art gallery meal is an exhibition and a meeting center for artists in meals.

It was created 1977 as culture initiative of differently artists. In the first years it attains admittingness as alive center for small art, particularly however in the time 1986-1990 with managing director Andreas Kunze. Among the arising artists at that time Harald Schmidt, Helge cutter and many different rank. Starting from center of the 80's the art gallery pulls into a former school in the Essener quarter Rellinghausen and developed there to one of the prominent places of issue for contemporary art in the Ruhr district. The conception of the exhibitions, the publications and meetings are compiled and accomplished by the artists and members represented in the house. There is 11 constant studios and a studio with dwelling for the Rotary scholarship "„boy art in meal "“, which is assigned since 1998 annually at art college graduates and one of the maximumendowed scholarships for recent art in Germany is.

Among in the year 2006 the artist working in the art gallery rank: Anne Berlit, Petra Johannes gram, Anke Grams, Ralf hair man, Christoph Hildebrand, Katharina Renate Neuser, Hubert sand man, Professor Gerda Schlembach and Ingrid Weidig. The opening times of the exhibitions are on Wednesdays to Sundays 16 to 18 o'clock and according to agreement.
