The airport Nuremberg is the international airport of the northBavarian metropolis and second largest airport in Bavaria. The air haven Nuremberg ranks at place 10 of the most important airports of Germany and at place 67 of the European airports. It is also spider of the air Berlin - of Germany of second largest airline. For 2006 more than 4 million passengers are expected.

Traffic route

The airport is 7 km north the city. The underground line U2 operates 10-15 in the minutes pulse into the city center. The running time to the main station and into the nearby "“old part of town"” amounts to only 12 min.

Statistics

History

1933 were inaugurated the first airport at the Marienberg (today people park); before that served airfield today any longer not existing the city in the quarter Atzenhof than binding. 1943 were destroyed the airport at the Marienberg.

1955 were established the airport at the present location. It was the first airport built since the end the Second World War in Germany.

1977 extension of the main apron

A new aircraft passenger terminal with large public gallery and restaurant replaces 1981 from the mode plants of the old building come.

1999 are inaugurated the new control tower.

Over 26 million "€ 2002 cost the west and north extension of the departure building 2.

2003 were inaugurated the cargo center CCN 2 after one and a half-year old construction period with 6,500 square meters of storage space and 4,600 square meters office space.

Development and infrastructure

Approximately 18 million "€ are to flow into the new multi-storey car park P3 with 2000 parking bays; it should be finished to June 2006. The multi-storey car park is to be established south the existing multi-storey car park 1.

For 2006 the building of a new Ankunfts and takeoff terminal with a floor area planned by 8500 square meters and costs of 25 million euro is. By the renewed west extension some resounding for small aircrafts will also have to be shifted.

A direct A3-Autobahn-Anbindung of the of airport is planned. Here a route with tunnelling of the starting and runway is favored; the area planning procedure was meanwhile introduced.
