The airfield Hamburg-Finkenwerder is a special airport in the southwest of Hamburg. It is on the work area the airbus Germany GmbH and borders on the Elbe.

There is a starting and a runway, on which daily approx. 10-15 airplanes start and lands (excluded at sunning and holidays). To it belong the A318, A319, the A321, whatever are finished here and delivered at customers, as well as the airbus Beluga, a freight version of the airbus A300 and Flugzeuge of the British Aerospace (BAe 146).

Only civil airline, which transports passengers, is the private air. It flies since 2003 between the airbus bases Toulouse Blagnac and Hamburg-Finkenwerder back and forth. For maintenance purposes EasyJet, air France, Germanwings, Aer Lingus, Iberia, British Airways, South African Airways, JetBlue, LAN, Spirit airlines, Independence air, and some asiatic societies approach the airport.

The A380 becomes starting from end 2006 the airfield regularly the purpose of the interior fittings, which approach lacquer finish and the distribution. During the test operation already two airplanes landed this type in Finkenwerder to the interior fittings and for the evacuation test.

Situation

The airbus base is appropriate for approx. 10 km air line in the southwest Hamburg city centres, far away from it. It belongs to the quarter Finkenwerder and thus to the district Hamburg center.
