An accommodation (also: Shelter) is a protected place (building, tent or a vehicle), which serves at least staying overnight. Most accommodations serve living.

Buildings

  • Accommodations for durable living are dwellings, houses (e.g. Bungalows, holiday houses, mansions and locks and/or castles), monastery or homes.
  • Accommodations for temporary living are hotels (also Resorts and motels)), Pensions, youth hostels, holiday houses, vacation homes, mountain huts, barracks, barracks, living balancing (also firm on camping sites), tents (e.g. Jurten, Wigwame and Tipis), summerhouses (arbours, vineyard huts, hospitals, nursing homes, homes for the elderly and living containers. On journeys some humans sleep also within the waiting ranges of traffic structures (e.g. in airport resounding and stations). A characteristic are prisons (detention cells) or closed institutes, where condemned over long time live must.

Vehicles

Also vehicles can serve as accommodations (mostly passing): Living mobile, camper, houseboats and living penalty. For the time of a journey also vessels can (e.g. Ferries, cruise ships and yachts) as well as railways serve.

For accommodations statistic data are raised only if they were inhabited at the time of the counting. Campers and summerhouses are seized as inhabited accommodations only if their inhabitants did not have other dwelling or other housing unit. As accommodations also buildings with only are proven or two leisure housing units, if their total floor space amounts to less than 50 m

Demarcation

Some humans without an accommodation, e.g. in the open air ("„hotel of 1000 stars "“) or under bridges. Furthermore it gives humans, who are voluntary or involuntarily general without shelter.
